Welcome to MemeDome ("we," "our," or "us"). By accessing or using memedome.com or our progressive web app you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the platform. These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and MemeDome.
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account and use MemeDome. Users between the ages of 13 and 17 represent that they have obtained verifiable parental or guardian consent. By creating an account you confirm that you meet the minimum age requirement for your jurisdiction.
Some features — including prize-bearing meme battles, referral payouts, and certain ad-supported content — are available only to users aged 18 or older. We reserve the right to request age verification and to terminate accounts where a user is found to be under the applicable minimum age.
MemeDome is intended for human users. Automated accounts, bots, and scrapers are prohibited without prior written permission.
You retain full ownership of all photos, memes, captions, comments, and other original content you create and upload to MemeDome ("User Content"). MemeDome does not claim ownership of your User Content and will never sell it to third parties.
By uploading or posting User Content, you grant MemeDome a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable, and transferable licence to:
This licence is limited to the purposes of operating MemeDome. It does not authorise MemeDome to sell, license to advertisers, or commercially exploit your content beyond platform promotion. You may revoke this licence by deleting your content or your account, subject to §7 (Content Archiving).
When you reshare or repost another user's content on MemeDome, you confirm that doing so is permitted by the original creator or by applicable law (e.g. fair use). Attribution is encouraged.
By uploading or posting User Content you represent and warrant that:
You acknowledge that MemeDome relies on these representations and that breach of any of the above may result in immediate content removal and account termination, in addition to any civil or criminal liability you may face.
MemeDome exists to share humour and connect people. To keep the platform safe and enjoyable for everyone, the following content is strictly prohibited:
This list is not exhaustive. MemeDome reserves the right to remove any content that we determine, in our sole discretion, is harmful, offensive, or inconsistent with our Community Guidelines — even if not explicitly listed above.
We recognise that meme culture involves remixing, repurposing, and transforming existing images and formats. Content that adds new meaning, commentary, or humour to source material may qualify as fair use or a transformative work under applicable copyright law. However, MemeDome does not make legal determinations on behalf of users. Responsibility for copyright compliance rests with the person who uploads the content. See our Fair Use Policy.
When you upload an image, MemeDome may strip EXIF metadata (including GPS coordinates, device model, and timestamps) before storing the file in our R2 object storage. We do not publicly expose raw EXIF data. Approximate location (country/region derived from your network at upload time) may be stored separately for content discovery purposes and is not extracted from image metadata.
You may upload AI-generated memes and images, subject to all other Terms. You must not use AI-generated content to create synthetic depictions of real people that are sexual, defamatory, or designed to deceive. You are responsible for ensuring AI-generated content you upload complies with the output terms of the AI tool you used.
If you add a watermark or credit to content you create on MemeDome, other users must not remove or obscure that attribution when resharing on the platform.
MemeDome may, at any time and without prior notice, review, edit, restrict, hide, remove, or permanently delete any User Content that:
Moderation actions may include: content removal, shadow restriction (limiting visibility without notification), warning, temporary suspension, or permanent account ban. Where feasible, we will notify you of the action taken and the reason. You may appeal via the process in §22.
MemeDome is not obligated to monitor all content on the platform. The existence of content on the platform does not constitute our endorsement of it.
When you delete a meme, post, or your account, your content is removed from public display immediately. However, MemeDome reserves the right to retain copies of deleted content:
Content that other users have reshared or reposted before you deleted the original may remain visible through those copies. MemeDome will not proactively remove reshared copies on your behalf, but you may report specific instances via our moderation system.
MemeDome respects intellectual property rights and complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and equivalent laws in other jurisdictions.
If you believe your copyrighted work has been infringed on MemeDome, send a written notice to dmca@memedome.com containing:
We aim to respond within 2–5 business days. See our full DMCA Policy.
If you believe your content was removed in error, you may file a counter-notification at dmca@memedome.com. Valid counter-notifications will result in content restoration within 10–14 business days unless the complainant files a court action.
Accounts that receive three or more valid DMCA takedown notices within a 12-month period will be permanently terminated. We maintain records of takedown notices for this purpose.
Not all uses of copyrighted material constitute infringement. Transformative, satirical, or commentary-based uses may qualify as fair use. See our Fair Use Policy.
All content posted on MemeDome is public by default and visible to any internet user, including those without a MemeDome account. Content may be indexed by search engines, cached by CDN providers, or republished by third parties outside our control. By posting publicly, you accept this visibility.
MemeDome does not currently offer private or follower-only posting. Future privacy controls, if introduced, will be subject to updated Terms.
MemeDome delivers push notifications via browser-native Web Push (VAPID). By granting notification permission — through the browser dialogue or Settings → Notifications — you agree to receive:
Your push subscription token (endpoint + cryptographic keys) is stored in our database linked to your account. It is never shared with advertisers. You can revoke permission at any time in your browser settings or in Settings → Notifications. See our Privacy Policy §7 for full details.
Granting notification permission is entirely voluntary. You may use MemeDome fully without enabling push notifications.
MemeDome collects the following categories of data to operate the platform:
Data is stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure (D1 database, R2 object storage) and Supabase (authentication). Full details including retention periods, legal bases, and your rights are in our Privacy Policy.
MemeDome gives you granular control over your experience via Settings:
MemeDome is an ad-supported platform. We use Ezoic (Ezoic Inc.) to deliver, optimise, and measure advertisements displayed within the site feed and on other pages. Ezoic connects MemeDome to multiple advertising demand partners (ad networks and exchanges).
To deliver and measure ads, Ezoic and its demand partners may collect:
MemeDome does not share your name, email address, MemeDome username, or the specific memes you have posted with any advertising partner. Ad targeting is based on aggregate and behavioural signals, not your personal account data.
By default, ads displayed on MemeDome may be personalised based on your browsing behaviour and inferred interests. This is known as interest-based or targeted advertising.
You have the following opt-out options:
Opting out of targeted advertising will not reduce the number of ads you see — only their relevance.
When you view or interact with an ad on MemeDome, Ezoic and its demand partners process your data as independent data controllers under their own privacy policies. MemeDome is not responsible for those data practices. Key partner policies:
For EU/EEA/UK users, advertising cookies require explicit consent under GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive. We obtain this consent through our cookie banner before any advertising cookies are set. You may withdraw consent at any time.
For California residents, you have the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising under CCPA/CPRA. Use our cookie preferences to exercise this right, or email privacy@memedome.com with subject "CCPA Opt-Out".
MemeDome works with Ezoic to filter out ads that violate our content standards (e.g. ads containing misleading health claims, adult content, or content targeting minors). However, we cannot guarantee that all ad content will meet these standards in real time. To report an inappropriate ad, use our contact form and include a screenshot.
Meme battles may carry point rewards, badges, or future cash prizes. Specific prize terms — including eligibility, payout method, minimum withdrawal threshold, and applicable taxes — will be disclosed in the battle announcement at the time of launch. MemeDome reserves the right to withhold prizes where we have reasonable grounds to suspect vote manipulation, fraudulent entry, or violation of these Terms.
Points awarded on MemeDome have no cash value and are not redeemable for money unless a specific redemption programme is explicitly announced with its own terms.
MemeDome does not currently operate a revenue-sharing programme for user-generated content. If an ad revenue sharing programme is introduced in the future, it will be governed by separate programme terms.
MemeDome operates a referral programme. Referral rewards (points) are subject to the following: the referred user must complete registration and post at least one meme; rewards are not paid in cash; MemeDome may modify or discontinue the referral programme at any time with 14 days' notice.
If you submit feature suggestions, bug reports, design ideas, or other feedback to MemeDome (via the contact form, forums, or direct communication), you grant MemeDome a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free licence to use, adapt, and implement that feedback without any obligation to credit or compensate you. You retain no ownership over feature suggestions that are implemented.
If MemeDome ever runs a formal design contest or community submission programme with prizes, that programme will be governed by separate competition terms published at the time of launch.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to:
MemeDome is not liable for losses arising from your failure to secure your account.
MemeDome reserves the right to suspend, restrict, or permanently terminate your account at any time, with or without prior notice, for any of the following reasons (non-exhaustive):
Upon termination, your licence to use the platform ceases immediately. Your public content may remain visible through reshares (§7). You may request deletion of your personal data via our Data Request form.
You may close your account at any time via Settings → Account → Delete Account or by emailing support@memedome.com.
MemeDome is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted access, or error-free operation.
We do not warrant that: (a) the platform will always be available or secure; (b) content will be accurate, complete, or free from error; (c) defects will be corrected; or (d) the platform or servers are free of viruses or harmful components. Use of the platform is at your own risk.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, MemeDome and its owner, operators, and service providers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with:
Our total aggregate liability to you for any claims arising under these Terms shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to MemeDome in the 12 months preceding the claim (if any) or (b) USD $50.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless MemeDome and its owner, operators, employees, and service providers from any and all third-party claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:
Before initiating any formal dispute, you agree to first contact us at support@memedome.comand attempt to resolve the matter informally. We will make reasonable efforts to respond and resolve the issue within 30 days.
If informal resolution fails, any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of MemeDome shall be resolved by binding arbitration rather than in court, except as provided in §20.3. Arbitration shall be conducted:
You waive any right to participate in class-action litigation or class-wide arbitration against MemeDome.
Either party may seek injunctive or other emergency equitable relief from a court of competent jurisdiction to prevent imminent harm, protect intellectual property rights, or enforce a duty of confidentiality, pending the outcome of arbitration.
If you are located in the EU or UK, nothing in this section limits your rights under mandatory consumer protection laws in your country, including your right to bring claims before your local courts or relevant regulatory authority (e.g. ICO in the UK, your national DPA in the EU).
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Kenya, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Subject to the arbitration clause in §20, any legal proceedings that are not required to be arbitrated shall be brought exclusively in the courts of Nairobi, Kenya. If you are located in the EU or UK, mandatory consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction may give you additional rights that take precedence over this clause.
The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply to these Terms.
To report content that violates these Terms or our Community Guidelines, use the Reportbutton on any meme, comment, or profile. For urgent reports (e.g. CSAM, imminent threats of violence), email moderation@memedome.com with "URGENT" in the subject line.
If your content was removed or your account was restricted or suspended, you may appeal within 14 days of the action by emailing appeals@memedome.com with:
Appeals are reviewed by a moderator who was not involved in the original decision. We aim to respond within 7 business days. Our decision on appeal is final.
Permanent account bans may be appealed once within 30 days of the ban. If the appeal is denied, no further appeals will be considered.
